Frequently Asked Questions

Are these train timings current?

They come from an open dataset of the Indian Railways time table from around 2016–17. Many trains still run to similar timings, but numbers, halts and timings are revised regularly, so always confirm on the official NTES site before travelling.

Can I check PNR status or live running status here?

No. Live running status and PNR status are published only by Indian Railways through NTES and indianrail.gov.in, and are not available as open data. The buttons on this page open those official pages directly.

Where does the coach position come from?

For about 430 trains the coach order is taken from the coach position table in the train’s Wikipedia article; for others only the number of coaches per class is shown, because the order is not published. Seat and berth maps use the standard Indian Railways numbering for each coach type. Rakes change, so confirm on the platform display or the NTES Coach Position page.

Why do some stations appear in grey?

For express, superfast and premium trains the dataset also lists stations the train passes without stopping, with the same arrival and departure time. Those are shown in grey and can be hidden. For passenger and suburban trains every listed station is treated as a halt.

Does it show which days a train runs?

Yes, for about 1,450 trains, taken from their Wikipedia articles (September 2026). Where Wikipedia does not state the days clearly — for example a weekly train whose two directions run on different days — the tool shows Wikipedia’s wording instead of guessing. Confirm on NTES or IRCTC before booking.
