Social Media Text Formatter
Select text and click Bold, Italic, or Strikethrough — like a real editor. Paste WhatsApp's *bold* text and it converts automatically.
Select some text above, then click a formatting button.
✓ WhatsApp-style formatting detected and converted automatically.
How this works: these aren't real "bold" formatting codes — they're different Unicode characters that happen to look bold, italic, etc. Because they're ordinary text characters (not formatting instructions), they paste and display identically anywhere that accepts plain text: Facebook posts and comments, Instagram captions and bios, WhatsApp chats and statuses, Twitter/X posts, LinkedIn posts, YouTube descriptions and comments, and Google Business Profile posts and responses. A few very old or limited fonts may not render every character (rare for common styles like Bold/Italic).
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a normal Bold/Italic button in Word or Google Docs?
Word and Google Docs apply real formatting that only that specific app understands — paste it into Instagram or WhatsApp and the bold disappears, because those apps don't accept rich text. This tool converts your selection into different Unicode characters that already look bold/italic as plain text, so the styling survives being pasted anywhere.
What happens if I paste text with WhatsApp's *bold* or _italic_ formatting?
It's detected and converted automatically — the *asterisks* or _underscores_ are removed and the wrapped text becomes real styled Unicode text, so it displays correctly even on platforms that have no idea what WhatsApp's formatting symbols mean.
What does "Clear Format" do?
It converts your selected text back to plain, unstyled letters and numbers — useful if you selected already-styled text and want to start over with it.
Is anything I type or paste here sent to a server?
No — this tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type or paste ever leaves your device.
