Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Both playback and conversion happen entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your file is never sent to any server.

Why is the first conversion slow to start?

The conversion engine itself (a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, about 31MB) needs to download once. Your browser caches it, so it won't need to download again on your next visit.

Why doesn't a YouTube or social media link work?

The link must point directly to a media FILE (like a .mp4 URL) that allows cross-origin browser access. Video platform pages aren't direct file links and don't allow this kind of cross-origin fetching — this tool is for files you already have a direct link to, such as your own hosted content.

What formats can I convert to?

Video: MP4, WebM, AVI, MOV, MKV, and animated GIF. Audio: MP3, WAV, AAC/M4A, OGG, FLAC, and Opus. The converter can also read many more formats as input than are listed as output options.

Is there a file size limit?

No limit is imposed by this tool, but very large files are limited by your device's available memory, since everything runs locally rather than on a server.
