Frequently Asked Questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The data is encoded directly into the QR code image itself (a "static" QR code) — it will scan correctly forever, with no dependency on this site staying online.

Is anything uploaded to a server?

No — QR codes and barcodes (and your logo, if you add one) are generated entirely in your browser. Nothing is ever sent anywhere.

Why isn't my QR code scanning with a logo or custom dot style added?

Set Error Correction to "High" — this adds enough redundancy for scanners to read the code correctly even with the center partially covered, or with a decorative dot style that slightly alters module shapes. Keep any logo small relative to the code.

Which barcode format should I use?

EAN-13 and UPC-A are the standard for retail products sold in stores. CODE128 is the most flexible for general-purpose use (any letters, numbers, symbols). CODE39 and ITF-14 are common in logistics/shipping. Codabar is still used by some libraries and blood banks.
